WHO ARE WE?  WHAT IS OUR PURPOSE AND MISSION?

"We are a family,

devoted to exalting Christ through

Worship, Witness, and Word”

This is our statement of purpose.  It is based upon our studies of one of the earliest churches, described in the Bible in Acts 2:42-47.  The Christians in that church devoted themselves to Jesus.  He was their focus, and their foundation.

Though they were very different people,  they became a family.   They loved each other and enjoyed spending time together, sharing their meals, and resources, and their everyday lives.    They spent time worshiping God together, and studying God's Word and learning together, and serving their community together.  In everything they did, they made it a point to share Jesus and His love with others.

Our hope is that everyday, our church will become more and more like that church, as we devote ourselves to honoring Jesus in everything.    We would love to have you join us and become a part of the family!

FROM WHERE HAVE WE COME?  136 YEARS OF MINISTRY….

On Dec. 18, 1884, 11 pioneers to Northeast Kansas gathered in the home of Eli and Sarah Jane Cain.  Eli was a civil war veteran, and he and his wife Sarah were early settlers, moving here from Springdale.  Among the Cains’ guests were David and Joanna Magill, who were some of the first settlers in this area, arriving from Missouri in April of 1856.  Others present were Alfred & M.A. Wilson, Sarah Ann Barnes; Milton Cain; Jedidiah Magilll; and  Samuel Magill. Together they sang hymns and offered up prayers.  And then, they created a church. Our church. Together the 11 made a covenant to one another, and to God, to "maintain public worship and the preaching of the gospel" in the McLouth community, and the church was begun.   We are grateful for those who have gone before us, and we are hopeful that those who follow us will find that we, too,  have been faithful.  - Pastor Scott
